In response to a Federal mandate, Penske converted all of their driver logging processes to auto-logging via ELD. The design challenge was to create an easy to use interface for drivers and managers to review, edit and log their travel time in accordance to regulation. An ELD system is installed on all trucks and are linked and authenticated via bluetooth to a drivers tablet or smartphone device. Logs that were once done by hand in notebooks are now electronically captured based on the vehicles performance and drivers elected status. Transportation authorities can download and review these logs electronically as the driver checks into weigh stations and check-points streamlining the verification process.
